11 June 2010 - High Productivity Vehicle Trial and Demonstration comes to Regional NSW

NatRoad with assistance from the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) and the Dubbo City Council has taken the initiative to trial and demonstrate various multi-combination and high productivity vehicles (HPV) in Dubbo on the 21 June 2010.

Dubbo Mayor Councillor Allan Smith and the Dubbo City Council are hosting this very significant event for the transport industry, which will demonstrate the latest technology in multi-combination and high productivity vehicles that can be used on suitable regional NSW roads under permit conditions.

Event organiser and NatRoad Director, John Morris said “These vehicles are already used extensively in many parts of Australia including QLD, NT, SA and WA and are proving to be safe and innovative vehicles, to assist in handling our ever increasing freight task throughout Australia”.

“The overarching principle and requirement is too improve road safety for all road users. The high productivity vehicles (HPV) have proved to be safer by far with their modern design encompassing, better braking abilities and increased stability on the road” stated John Morris.

Regional Councils and Shires have been invited, as well as representative from the NSW Police Service, NSW Roads & Traffic Authority (RTA) and the National Transport Commission (NTC).  Also included in the invitation list are local and state politicians, including the NSW Minister for Roads, the Hon. David Borger MP.

Some of the high productivity vehicles (HPV) combinations to be demonstrated include a BAB Quad; AB-Triple; ‘modular’ AB-Triple; B-Triple; a conventional B-Double and a road train for comparison.

Australian Trucking Association’s National Manager, Policy, David Coonan and technical consultant Bob Woodward recently conducted a similar and successful high productivity vehicles (HPV) event at Narrandera.

This unique high productivity vehicles (HPV) demonstration day will go a long way in educating and informing the community, government and the transport and road regulators. Government representatives can also have the benefit from a ‘hands on’ experience with these high productivity vehicles (HPV) of the future.
